Dear members and friends of the Sodality of Charity,
Thank you to all the Sodalists and their families who helped the clergy, our Seminarian, the servers and the Sisters in making such a great Holy Week. Holy Saturday and the end of Lent culminated in the great Easter Egg Hunt, where children of the parish had a great time searching the eggs prepared by the Sodalists.
I said Mass for all the Sodalists on Easter Monday, April 10.
Though we didn’t have a monthly meeting in April, this month has been filled with the events of Holy Week, preparations for the First Holy Communions, and two weddings. And we have once again many great events to look forward to. Wednesday, April 26, is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the patron of our Sodality, and, of course, the little sad first anniversary of the death of Bp. Dolan. You have two great opportunities to attend Mass. The first High Mass of St. Joseph will be at 7 AM; and at 11.25 AM we’ll have a Pontifical Requiem for Bp. Dolan. If you can, please come to honor our patron and remember our first pastor.
May, the Month of Mary, will start with the consecration of Fr. Bede Nkamuke. This event will take place on Monday, May 1, at 10 AM. May 3 is the First Wednesday of the month, so remember to say a prayer, attend Mass, or do an act of charity in honor of St. Joseph. Our monthly meeting will be on Saturday, May 6. Since it is First Saturday, there will be Benediction and Sermon at 8:15 AM, followed by a Low Mass. In the meeting we will prepare a spiritual bouquet for Bishop Nkamuke. The new Bishop will also give his blessing to the Sodalists, and we’ll also have the enrollment of the new Sodality members.
On May 13, which falls on a Saturday this year, SGG again starts the monthly Fatima Rosary Procession for peace. Our Lord tells us: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, do I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) Join us after the second morning Mass.
The Girls Camp will be on June 27-29, Tuesday to Thursday. The adult age Sodalists, mark in your calendars the Young Adult Get-Together (YAG) which our parish will once again host this Summer. The event will be on the weekend of July 7-9, and the registration and payment deadline is June 20. You can register and read more information on the YAG website.
